This week at the Bend

With last week's NoteMaker sale still in mind, we present to you this week's calendar courtesy of a 2011 Moleskine diary.

Peter and Paisley Present: Two Knights Only

1000£Bend regulars Peter and Paisley are performing a comedy show at ours as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival and we can’t wait for the medieval spectacular these two gentlemen will bring.

Directed by Harley Hefford, their show fortunately runs for more than just two nights but does indeed only feature two knights. It tells a tale of epic medieval adventure featuring an array of characters played by Peter and Paisley themselves. Let yourself be whisked away a few odd centuries and delight in what only two men pretending to be knights, as well as peasants, villains and kittens (so we’ve been promised) can offer.

Check out their official Fringe Festival page for tickets, or for fun medieval facts and more info, check out their Facebook and event page.

Show runs from 19th September til 9th of October, upstairs at the Bend.

Outpost Project

The Sydney Biennale this year will play host to a free street art festival Outpost Project at Cockatoo Island from November 4th until December 11th.

The festival is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and will feature over 100 local and international street artists and collectives. Its biggest drawcard is the exhibition of the private collection Oi You! which contains 23 works by the infamous Banksy.  Other exhibiting artists include Faile, Swoon and Micallef as well as Melbourne's Miso and Just Another Agency's very own Beastman http://www.justanotheragency.com.au/_beastman.

introducing ROBERT SCHOLTEN: 1000 Pound Bend Cafe Arist of the Month

1000 Pound Bend is excited to have Robert as September's cafe artist. All of his works are for sale. Come on in, grab a coffee and check out his amazing pieces.

Robert Scholten is an artist based in Melbourne, Australia. With diverse influences such as ukiyo-e, typography, comics, printed ephemera and flemish paintings (to name a few), Robert integrates the contrasts of human experience in his own visual style - the sublime and the profane, the reality and the immaterial - while having a lot of fun in the process! His work invites you into a layered world of weird fantasy mixed with comic realism, building strange narratives within the viewer.
