Bioperspective

Here’s something for all you scientifically inclined art aficionados. Biomedical artist Beth Croce, the brains behind Bioperspective, creates fine art and jewellery with a biological perspective in mind. What results are pancreas cufflinks and uterus earrings to sketches of human skeletal bats.

You can check out her website here, but you can also see her jewellery range in the flesh at the Bend as we play host to Melbourne Spring Fashion Week’s ‘Spotlight Emerging Designer Exhibition’. Beth, as well as 11 other local designers will be showcasing their SS11 range for the next two weeks. Come by and see the hard work of Melbourne's emerging fashionistas.

The show runs from 29th August until 11th September.

Watch this space

Melbourne has such a huge list of galleries and more are always opening. One more to watch out for is Rooftop Art Space which opens with its first show on 1st of September at 6pm. All details are "coming soon" but as its so central at level 7 Curtain house, 252 Swanston street and if you are both curious and a regular gallery hopper make sure to check it out.

NOTHING (but flowers)

"Its a strange landscape"
Sculptor and installation artist Benedict Ernst currently has a show at West Space gallery. His work has been influenced by bouquets and botanical studies leading him to create "flowers" using objects such as bottle caps, saucepan lids, moss, wire and other collected debris. Its fantastic to see what can be created from what once was rubbish. Dont miss out

The show runs until 17th September at West Space level 1, 225 Bourke Street.

HOH. EARTH TONES.

Purely for your viewing pleasure.

...gloves are incredible.

Sneaky Leaky Feist

As you have probably heard at some stage at the cafe, us Pounders love ourselves a bit of Feist.  Though considering it's been 4 years since her last album, The Reminder, we are gearing up for the release of her fourth album, Metals, in October.  Getting us even more psyched are these sneaky leaky videos Feist has been dropping every few days with a taste of what the new album is to sound like, set to some rad little film. Yay!

Also stop in the cafe on Sundays from 2-4pm for your chance to see other lovely sounding bands!

Listen to "A Girl Called Lullaby" for a peek-y-peek of Kodo's tunes here.
